Finn-Korkki introduce a new wide mouth closure for beer

A RipCap ring pull cap for beer is now available from Finn-Korkki

Finn-Korkki has begun manufacturing a new wide mouth closure that is suitable for bottled beer. RipCap wide mouth closures have been established for many years in the wine & spirit sectors. This new RipCap closure is a ring pull closure made from aluminium with a diameter of 42mm. This RipCap is Finn-Korkki’s biggest ring pull closure that can be used with beverages like beer or cider, on glass, plastic and metal bottles.

There is a demand, in both the beer and cider sectors, for premium packages. Premium should not mean only a good look and feel to the bottle but also good usability. Finn-Korkki visualised a solution that uses their easy to open RipCap together with a wide mouth bottle. Together the package gives a sensation as if drinking from a glass.

Good usability is realised in the easy open nature of the RipCap closure and in the way beer smoothly flows from a wide mouth bottle. The bottle mouth profile used with a Ripcap improves the drinking experience by making drinking from the bottle extremely smooth. Wide mouth beer bottles with RipCap closures offer premium drinking experiences due to this high level of usability. This can only be offered by bottles using RipCap wide mouth closures.

The wide mouth RipCap production line has been operating since early 2008. It was shipped to Finland from Australia after Finn-Korkki purchased, in 2007, the assets of the company RipCap Closures Systems pty from Melbourne. Combining Finn-Korkki’s expert knowledge of ring pull caps with RipCap production machinery allowed the development of the new wide mouth closure for beer.

Equipment to convert a crown capper to use RipCap closures is manufactured by Finn-Korkki. Installation takes about 3 days including production testing and training of line operators.

Ring pull closures in aluminium and steel are available in a range of sizes, for example, the RingCrown cap is designed to fit the crown cork bottle mouth. Finn-Korkki develop a new aluminium closure for Veen's winning glass bottle

Veen Waters' Tomi Grönfors thanks Finn-Korkki for their congratulations and also gave thanks to Finn-Korkki for developing such an inspirational closure. It is clear that Finn-Korkki have a passion for closures in the same way that Veen Waters have a passion for water.

The 2007 bottledwaterworld awards attracted a record 169 entries from 32 countries. The winners were revealed at the awards presentation in Mexico City on 13 September 2007. Veen Waters glass bottle “Wave 66” designed by Antti Eklund won the 2007 best glass bottle category.  Finn-Korkki are very pleased to be associated with Veen and to supply their LuxTop aluminium closure for Veen's ”Wave 66” glass bottle.

Veen Waters approached Finn-Korkki late last year to design, develop and manufacture for them a luxury aluminium closure. Veen had a demanding time scale and design brief for their new range of bottled water in glass.  The chosen closure solution from Finn-Korkki is a luxury aluminium closure with a plastic 28mm thread insert.  Aluminium closures give an excellent look and feel that naturally supported the Veen brand values. The top of the closure has an embossed Veen 'V' that adds a smoothness to the look and feel of the LuxTop aluminium closure.

These benefits were combined with practical considerations such as the need for the luxury aluminium closure to have a tamper evident feature.  This consideration gave birth to a striking blue band, reflecting the Veen blue.

Finn-Korkki have, with partners, over the last 10 years built a strong set of skills in luxury aluminium closure design, development and manufacture. These skills have allowed them to offer luxury aluminium closure solutions to the Absolut Vodka & Danzka Vodka brands amongst others. Finn-Korkki's key skills are in offering design ideas, their knowledge of stamping aluminium of various thicknesses and their knowledge of techniques for securing a plastic thread into an aluminium cap.

NEW RINGCROWN PRODUCTION LINE AT FINN-KORKKI

Capacity Doubles for Ring-Pull Bottle Cap

Hämeenlinna, May 2004: A new production line more than doubles the production capacity of RingCrown ring pull closures. Finn-Korkki were forced to add the extra capacity to meet the growing demand for their innovative ring pull bottle closure.

The new RingCrown line is now operating at full capacity. Over half of the new production line was custom made because of the unique design features of the ring-pull cap. RingCrown production facilities include a pre-press department for digital preparation of designs and production of the printing plates. The new production line combined with the pre-press bring to Finn-Korkki increased flexibility in production scheduling giving extra flexibility in customer service.

A rapid growth in sales during the last five years shows demand for RingCrown - the ring pull cap - is strong. Sales of RingCrown ring pull bottle closures are driven by the beverage industry's need for distinctive and innovative products. Although bottled beer is the main market sector, RingCrown - the ring pull cap - is well established in the juice, water and energy drink market sectors. The key geographic markets are Germany, Poland and central European countries. During the trading year Finn-Korkki will regularly export, the easy open lift-off bottle closure, to over 30 countries.

Glass is still the bottle material of choice – but more and more breweries are combining PET bottles with RingCrown - the ring pull cap - to bring additional benefits to the consumer. A few companies, on the leading edge of the beverage industry, are packaging their premium drinks in aluminium bottles completing the premium feel of the product with RingCrown ring pull closures.

Finn-Korkki is Europe's sole manufacture of ring-pull bottle closures. RingCrown - the ring pull cap - bottle closures are, world wide, the only ring-pull closure to be manufactured totally from steel.

For over twenty years Finn-Korkki have been manufacturing ring pull caps for bottles with a crown cork mouth. Other products include special design closures, for example the Absolut Vodka bottle cap that is made in Hämeenlinna by Finn-Korkki.

FINN-KORKKI INVESTS IN MORE CAPACITY FOR RINGCROWN - THE RING PULL CAP

To meet the needs of an expanding market, Finn-Korkki, the metal closure manufacturer based in Hämeenlinna, Finland, is constructing a new manufacturing line that will double the production capacity for its easy-open RingCrown closures.

During the last five years the demand for ring pull closures has increased dramatically. Today´s beverage industry is looking for new ways to attract consumers, like those who appreciate the RingCrown´s contemporary appeal.

Finn-Korkki is the sole manufacturer of ring pull caps in Europe and the only user of steel materials in the production of ring pull closures. Our ring pull closures are registered under the trade name RingCrown.

RingCrown closures are used for sealing glass and PET bottles with a crown cork mouth, for beer, alco pops, energy drinks, juices and soft drinks. RingCrown - the ring pull cap - are used primarily in European countries; the main markets are in the German-speaking regions and Eastern Europe. Most of our customers are beer producers; in Germany alone more than 40 breweries have discovered the advantages of using RingCrown - the ring pull cap - from Finland.

The new production line will be operating at full capacity in early 2004. In the meantime the range of customers already includes a large number of internationally renowned breweries such as Jever, Diebels, Interbrew, Brau Union, Bacardi and Tuborg.
